Divorce & Family Law

German divorce, handled for you from abroad.

If you are married to a German citizen or to someone living in Germany — or you have children there — a separation quickly runs into German courts, deadlines and language. We represent international clients through the whole process, in plain English.

What we handle
  • German divorce proceedings, from filing to the final decree
  • Division of matrimonial assets (Zugewinnausgleich) and pension rights (Versorgungsausgleich)
  • Spousal maintenance and child support (Unterhalt)
  • Custody, residence and visitation / contact rights
  • Jurisdiction questions and recognition of foreign decisions
How it works

First, an honest read of your situation and the realistic options. Then we handle the German side end to end — filings, correspondence with the court and opposing counsel, and representation at any hearing — keeping you informed in English throughout.

Common questions

Good to know

Can I divorce in Germany if I live abroad?

Often yes — German courts can have jurisdiction where there is a German connection, such as a German spouse or place of residence. We assess this early, before anything is filed.

Do I have to attend in person?

There is usually at least one hearing. We advise on when your attendance is genuinely required and when a matter can be handled without you travelling.

Which country's law applies to my divorce?

Not automatically German law — it depends on the facts and can sometimes be chosen. Getting this right is one of the first things we check.

The moment things change

A difficult step — handled with care and clarity.

Ending a marriage across borders is hard enough emotionally. We take the German legal weight off your shoulders, so you can focus on what matters.

When children are involved

Custody and contact, kept in focus.

Where children live in Germany, custody, residence and visitation are often the most sensitive questions of all. We handle them with the seriousness they deserve.
